Aaliyah's Music Soars on Spotify

By Gail Nobles 4/2026

In a remarkable demonstration of enduring popularity, Aaliyah has captured the ears of millions of listeners around the world. As of March 2026, the legendary singer boasts over 6.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, marking an impressive milestone in her musical legacy. Fans have streamed her songs more than 1.6 billion times, a testament to her widespread appeal.

Some of her most popular tracks that continue to resonate with listeners include "Try Again," "One in a Million," "Rock The Boat," and "Miss You." These hits have cemented Aaliyah's status as an influential figure in the music industry, even years after her untimely passing.

While every time one of her songs is played on Spotify, royalties are generated, it’s important to note where that money goes. Typically, these payments go to Blackground Records 2.0, the company managed by her uncle, Barry Hankerson, along with other rights holders. Unfortunately, this means that the payments do not go directly to Aaliyah's estate.

Despite these financial intricacies, Aaliyah's spirit and musical legacy remain strong, continuing to inspire and uplift fans across the globe.

Aaliyah's enduring popularity and the way her music continues to connect with fans around the world can be seen as a testament to her lasting legacy on Earth. While she may not be here physically, her spirit and influence live on through her timeless songs, allowing her to remain a cherished figure in the music industry, as if a part of her is still among us. Her contributions to music keep her memory alive, even as she exists in a different realm. ~ Futurose
